Key Changes for 2024 Tax Returns

• Capital Gain/Loss Returns: Filing for capital gains and losses will now be deferred, with a later filing date set by the CRA.
• Emigrant Returns: These can now be filed online, with a filing window determined by the CRA.
• Immigrant Returns: Online filing is available; however, please ensure that your first, middle (if applicable), and last names exactly match the CRA records.
• CPP Contributions: A second enhanced rate (level) has been introduced. Significant updates have been made to Schedule 8 and RC381.
• New Tax Form: The T1198 form is now part of this tax season’s forms.

Enhanced Filing Features Compared to Last Year

• Foreign Mailing Addresses: Both NetFile and EFile now accept foreign mailing addresses. Note that the mailing address provided on your return is used solely for filing purposes and does not alter your registration record with the CRA.
• Find Return Feature: Having trouble locating prior or current return files? Use our new Find Return feature to quickly locate your documents.
• Client Letter Customization: We’ve added a customization feature to help you tailor client letters more effectively.
