These codes usually mean there's a problem with your EFILE login info. Basically, the CRA system doesn't recognize your password or EFILE ID. You might see these errors when filing different tax returns such as T1, T2, T3 or authorization forms and T1134.

What do these errors mean specifically?

  • T1 return: E1 - Authentication failed.
  • T2 return: 451 - According to CRA records, the EFILE password provided is not valid.
  • Authorization form: EFILE ERROR T802 -The transmitter’s EFILE number or password is not entered or is invalid.
  • T1134 form: EFILE ERROR 302 - Please carefully complete both identification fields and try again.
  • T3 return: EFILE ERROR EF001122 - Authentication failed. Please carefully complete all identification fields. If you still get this error after your second attempt, please contact your T3 EFILE Helpdesk for further details. Your access will be locked after five unsuccessful attempts.

How do I fix it?

  • First, double-check your EFILE number and password. Make sure you're using capital letters for your ID.
  • Try logging into your CRA EFILE account on the CRA website. Click the "EFILE Sign in" button in the "Your online EFILE account" section.
  • If you can't log in, you'll need to contact the CRA to make sure you are properly registered and have the correct EFILE number and password.
  • If your credentials are valid, double-check that you entered everything correctly. Ensure that you’ve entered your ID in CAPITAL LETTERS.
  • The CRA locks your account after five failed login attempts, so be careful when trying again. Call the CRA helpdesk to avoid getting locked out.
